A relax day with a church visit

16 januari 2016 - Marondera, Zimbabwe

Yesterday we had a very relaxing day. We slept in haha meaning sleeping till 8. Most of the time we wake up around 6.45 or earlier. We mainly chilled at the house of alex's (tutor) parents and did a lot of groceries at the market. The market was a lot of fun! It is not even that busy but still there is happening a lot at the time. We got stared at a lot, just because we are white. The zimvabwean whites use their car to go from shop to shop and try to not enter the market, really sad actually. We also went to the butcher, well I've had my fair share of interesting meat again. I had an encounter with a cow's chin(everything attached) anda lot lot of chicken feet(with nailsss!).
Yesterday night we went to the church on boys campus. It was great! I never thought church could be that vivid and fun. It started with some basic announcement as usual. But then a band started playing and all the boys went crazy like in a bar! It were gospel songs and everyone danced and sang along. After that, a speaker spoke about the breakfast of peter, being a legendary breakfast. It was nicely discussed, it reminded me of literature discussions. The context the speaker put eveerything in was very funny: it was really our age experiences for example listening to adele songs and having a great breakfast on holiday, came along as references. It really touched me and made me thinking how involved the boys were. Today we are going to go to Nyanga for the weekend. We have a cottage in the higher areas and we will do some swimming, relaxing and hiking there! I am really excited although I hope it will not rain as bad as yesterday.
Yesterday we experienced rainseason big time! It was like a shower for hours and hours. our house was leaking, so when we entered the home, there were a lot of random puddles.

Your uncle Tjaard was on radio commercials for a church service in Rotterdam last week, to get more people in. Perhaps he should read your blog for more ideas ....
I try to imagine you in the evening in Nyanga. How does it smell? And any animal sounds?

    Hallo lieve Marlo,
